Ana Murillo: Activist, rock wall lava artist, and food-focused landscaper.
When Ana was still in High School in South Central, Los Angeles, she would sneak out of her house at night to go help the homeless living on Skid Row. When she left school, Ana worked for an NGO on Skid Row and began thinking of alternative ways to improve the lives of the homeless in Los Angeles. She noticed that the one of the glaring issues facing those on the street was the lack of any kind of legal assistance. Within a year, Ana had created created the first program of it's kind in linking local university law students who offered pro-bono legal advice to homeless youth while they were still studying in college.
After moving to Big Island, Ana has focused on local community farming projects as well as creating unique lava rock walls and sustainable landscaping. She also hunts wild pigs.
